Lawrence Hatheway is Global Investment Strategist with the Franklin Templeton Institute. The Franklin Templeton Institute harnesses the depth and breadth of the firm’s worldwide investment expertise and extensive in-house research capabilities to deliver unique investment insights to clients. Larry works with our Institutional clients and distribution teams, providing critical thought leadership. In addition, he leads the team of Institute analysts and sets the research agenda that directly answers and impacts clients’ needs.
Prior to his role at Franklin Templeton, Larry worked at GAM Investments as Group Chief Economist and Global Head of Investment Solutions, where he was responsible for a team of 50 investment professionals managing over $10bn in assets. Previously, he worked at UBS Investment Bank as Chief Economist and Head of Global Asset Allocation. During his tenure at UBS, Larry also served as Global Head of Fixed Income Strategy and Chief Economist for Asia.
Larry is widely recognized for his appearances on Bloomberg TV, CNBC, the BBC, CNN, and other media outlets. He frequently publishes articles and opinion pieces for Bloomberg, Barron’s, and Project Syndicate, among others. Larry is also an adjunct professor at the Dolan School of Business at Fairfield University and at the College of Business at the University of Wyoming. Larry holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Texas, an M.A. in International Studies from the Johns Hopkins University, and a B.A. in History and German from Whitman College.
