The Dynamic iShares Active ETFs include the following:

Dynamic iShares Active Preferred Shares ETF (TSX: DXP) holds primarily Canadian preferred shares, and follows the active-management strategies of Dynamic’s Marc-André Gaudreau.

Dynamic iShares Active Crossover Bond ETF (TSX: DXO) focuses on near-high-yield North American fixed-income corporate securities and also tracks the active-management strategies of Dynamic’s Marc-André Gaudreau.

Dynamic iShares Active Canadian Dividend ETF (TSX: DXC) holds Canadian dividend payers, and provides exposure to an active investment strategy managed by Dynamic’s Don Simpson and Eric Mencke.

* Fidelity launches “best of breed” fund managed by stock picker Will Danoff. Fidelity Investments Canada debuted its Fidelity Insights Class, which is managed by U.S.-based Fidelity manager Will Danoff. Danoff is a long-time Fidelity manager, and currently manages Fidelity Contrafund, the largest solely actively managed equity mutual fund in the U.S.

Fidelity Insights Class has a go-anywhere mandate, investing primarily in shares of companies of any size market capitalization. The fund may invest anywhere in the world, but emphasizes U.S. stocks.

According to a release, the fund will invest in “best of breed” companies that Danoff believes will offer sustained, above-average earnings growth. The fund is also available as Fidelity Insights Currency Neutral Class.

* Mawer introduces Emerging Markets fund. Mawer Investment Management Ltd. launched its Mawer Emerging Markets Equity Fund, managed by Mawer’s Peter Lampert, who also co-manages the FundGrade A+ 2016 Award-winning Mawer International Equity Fund.

According to a Mawer release, higher economic growth rates in emerging markets like India, Brazil, and China have led these countries to become larger contributors to the global economy, which has resulted in a greater number of investment opportunities.

As for strategy, Mr. Lampert said, “We focus on large and small cap companies with strong business models, excellent management teams, and attractive stock valuations.”
